Winterfox take down Obey.Alliance

Winterfox make it to the MLG Americas Minor playoffs after defeating Obey.Alliance 2-1 in a closely fought series in the Group A decider match (16-9 on de_mirage, 12-16 on de_inferno, and 16-14 on de_dust2).

The Group A decider match of the MLG Americas Minor had the interesting distinction of being only the second match to take place in the group as a three-team group due to extenuating circumstances was made even more bizarre following Obey.Alliance's opening match forfeit due to Terry "⁠dsr⁠" Rioux having a cancelled flight.

Winterfox, who failed to take down OpTic in the group's winners match, came into the series by winning de_mirage 16-9. The map saw perhaps one of the most bizarre turnarounds occur where, following a weak defense that saw them go down 6-9 in the first half, Winterfox strung together ten rounds in a row to win the map.

Obey.Alliance wanted to show that they too could play the T-side offensive game as the Canadian-American team picked up multiple rounds during their Terrorist executes on de_inferno to win that map 16-12, with dsr and Cory "⁠APE⁠" Bate putting in strong performances.

With both teams losing their map picks, the decider match was the notoriously fickle de_dust2, and this quality showed as multiple clutch rounds and turnarounds ensured a third map thriller.

In the end however, Winterfox had slightly stronger teamwork on their CT-side and took the map 16-14, thereby sending Obey.Alliance out of the event and guaranteeing themselves a place in the playoffs against Enemy tomorrow at 16:00 .

The final day of the MLG Americas Minor will see two playoff matches and a grand final take place to determine which team will receive an invite to the official Major qualifier.

The games will also produce a notification in the Watch tab when CS:GO is launched in order to raise awareness of the scene (as will playoff games at the other Minors). This notification will only appear for players 'in the region.'
